2000 Jaguar XKR
This is one beautiful Jaguar. Jaguars are excellent and instantly recognizable cars, but the 2000 model marked a change of a millennia, and this car came complete with all the trimmings to show just that. The 2000 model is a year that any Jaguar owner would be happy to have.
The original coupe XK8 Jag was launched in 1996 to replace the traditional XJ-S. By 2000, Jaguar had worked out any kinks in this new model and had come up with a millennia model that was beauty incarnate. Two body styles were produced this year, a coup and a convertible. The coupe was almost more popular than the convertible, though the convertible of course was quite popular for a lot of interested buyers.
This model brought forth a lot of changes for Jaguar that were not necessarily seen before. For example, the model was the first in the Jaguar line-up to use Jaguar’s newly developed V8 engine. Wow, this engine really was a sight to behold. The AJ-V8. This was the first V8 Jaguar engine and something that a lot of Jaguar enthusiasts had been waiting patiently for.
In 2000 things got even better. The supercharged XKR was added to the range. The XKR was and is just a great engine overall. This beast of a Jaguar engine featured 370 supercharged horsepower, and the 2000 model featured a subtle rear spoiler, wire mesh front grille, and red exterior emblems. Again, the 2000 model was something very special.
Probably the most notable factor of the 2000 Jaguar was the engine they put in it. It had parts that came from all over the world for one thing, and from the best manufactures in the marketplace. The early XKR’s motor was made in England, the ignition system was from NGK in Japan, the transmission was a Mercedes-Benz 722.6, the lighting system was by Valeo in France, and the supercharger was made by Eaton in the USA. Truly a world car that created world-wide appeal that caused enthusiasts all across the planet to love and appreciate it. As if to add a cherry to the top of it all, the 2000 XKR received positive reviews from magazines including Road & Track, Car & Driver, and Automobile just to name a few of them.
