1966 Ford Mustang

Plus Taxes & Licensing

Few classic can create the appeal and the pure recognition of the iconic Ford Mustang. It has been called the most famous and the most popular American classic muscle car before by many professionals, and not without good reason too. This is a car that is impressive and historic. The car is one of the few muscle cars from the classic era that is still in production today, and those who have seen these cars and who have enjoyed them truly do put a lot of attention and dedication into them.

What better Mustang to have than a first generation Mustang? The first generation Mustangs were manufactured between 1965 and 1973. The 1966 Ford Mustang is a great year to own because the 1966 Ford Mustang is the second year of production, meaning that the car looks as original as can be while also having a lot of the kinks worked out of it.

This year was a great year for the Mustang with a lot of the little foresights worked out and handled properly so that they wouldn’t cause the problems that had been missed at first in 1965. However, as far as the visible look of the car and all that went into it, the 1966 model looked almost exactly like the 1965 model did.

All in all, 1966 was known for being the year that actually brought even fewer changes for the Mustang than did its predecessor. In fact, most of the changes for 1966 were in the form of cosmetic refinements here and there, but mostly the cars could not be differentiated one to the other. A new grille appeared on most models too, which was really the only noticeable change. This grille featured chrome edged, horizontal inserts, replaced the honeycomb grille of the 1965 model.

1966 did see some improvements on this year’s models of Mustangs. For example, the lower rocker panel molding became standard equipment, as did backup lights, and a chrome hood lip molding too. All in all though, the car was an iconic one and an appreciated one to say the least, and a lot of people then and now wish to own them. One of the favorite years for the Mustang, the 1966 model car was thought to be very special and very desirable, and it may yet be even more desirable today.
