1957 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz Convertible

1957 Green on Green Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz Convertible

The 1957 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz Convertible. What a classic car! This is a car of a generation and an idyllic reminder of the 1950s era classic cars and an incredibly rare reminder of a different time period all together for American classic cars. The particular 1957 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz Convertible was one of just two volume Eldos available from the manufacturer that year in fact, making its rarity and its exclusiveness quite impressive. There were only about 1,800 of the Biarritzes made in the convertible version, so this car is incredibly rare and incredibly desired.

About the Icon of the 1950s

Eldorados from the year 1957 were a part of the Series 62 line, and they rode on that series’ 129.5-inch wheelbase in fact. That was about the only thing for the 1957 Biarritz that is similar to another vehicle though. Everything else is totally unique to this car, making perfect restorations of this beautify very valuable indeed. For example, the gently rounded jet-pod fins that characterized and framed the 1953 and 1954 Eldorados had been replaced for 1957 by very aggressive, intensely shark-like jut outs with added on under-carried twin brake and backup lights in pairs. The styling theme was subtly carried over into later years, but after 1957 the fins became more for subtle and graceful so to speak and not as flashy as the 1957 had, and the tail end light pods were not quite as pronounced either. All in all, 1957 was the peak of a line of cars that was already immensely rare.

And that’s just the back end! On the front end of the vehicle, the Eldorado kept true to other models of the 1957 line with sleek finishes, nice curves, and well placed and well molded chrome and grills. Not to mention the convertible aspect itself, which brought for more value and more interest for an already very pleasant and interesting vehicle as it was.

Finally, we get to the engine of the 1957 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz Convertible. When the hood is popped, viewers can see a square, bored-out 365 V-8. Even though it was only 1957, these premium, quality cars were rated for 325 horsepower. This was actually the most potent V-8 yet offered in a Cadillac, or so the Cadillac people will say, and they’re probably right too.

A Joy of a Car and the Prize of a Collection

The 1957 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz Convertible. Such splendor and history and quality craftsmanship all packed into one vehicle from the 1950s. Many car enthusiasts say this was and is the most desired car of the 1950s, and it’s believable too. The car is the collector’s dream and a milestone car with little to no rivals from that area. One and the same, they hold their own with newer classics from the 1960s and 1970s, yet this car holds the luster and appeal of a 1950s era one of a kind automobile. Desired, lusted after, and sometimes won and cherished for a lifetime.
